Executions in 2013: min. 778 plus 'thousands' in China

Alabama

Since the reintroduction of the death penalty in 1976, 44 prisoners have been executed in Alabama. There are currently 200 inmates on death row of which 5 are women. Male inmates are in the prisons of Homan and Donaldson, women in Tutwiler. You find a list of all prisoners on the official DOC page.

General Mail rules

You may send letters, greeting- and postcards. The greeting-cards must be fully filled in  (not just the insert), otherwise the card will be returned.
The name and address of the sender has to be legibly written on the envelope. We do recommend to mention the address in the letter as well, in case the envelope gets opend and damaged in the mailroom.
It is allowed to send US-stamps to an Alabama inmate. You may also send money orders in your letter.

Please, ask your pen pal about the up-to-date mailing rules, photo rules and gift rules.  Since these rules change very fast, it's not always possible for us to make a valid assessment of these stipulations.

Pending US-Executions

Unfortunately the United States of America still is one of the countries which regularly executes people.

You’ll find a list of the already scheduled executions here.
